Needle and Thread

One of my favorite songs Needle and Thread by Sleeping At Last has really been speaking to my heart lately.  It goes...

"You were a million years of work,"
said God and his Angels with needle and thread.
They kissed your head and said,
"You're a good kid, and you make us proud.
So just do your best and the rest will come,
And we'll see you soon."

This is such a beautiful image to me and I often think about it when I'm sewing.  What wonderful and positive words of encouragement to think that God tells us we are good, we make him proud, and to give this whole crazy thing we call life our best shot.  I was very fortunate to have parents that told me I was a good kid and I made them proud.  This song verse reminds me that all of those times my parents spoke those kind words and all of the other times that my husband, family, and friends lift me up with words of encouragement they are really speaking God's words and sharing His love.  So those days where I am frustrated, tired, and overwhelmed I try to remember that I just have to do my best...that's all God's asking of me.
